Ingredients
2 cups All-purpose flour
1/2 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Cocoa powder
1 tbsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup Milk
2 tbsp Melted butter
1 unit Large egg
1.5 cups Powdered sugar
3 tbsp Milk
1/2 tsp Vanilla
2–3 cups Vegetable or Canola oil
Instructions
- Prepare your frying station by heating the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt
- In a separate small bowl, combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined
- Use a small cookie scoop or two spoons to drop rounded tablespoons of dough into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot
- Fry the dough for about 2 to 3 minutes, turning occasionally until puffed and cooked through
- Remove the donut holes with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels
- While they cool, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create the glaze
- Dip each donut hole into the glaze and set them on a wire rack to allow excess glaze to drip off
Notes
For added flavor, consider using high-quality cocoa powder.
To store leftovers, keep them in an airtight container for up to two days, or freeze for up to a month.
