Description

These Chocolate Donut Holes with Sugar Glaze are a cost-effective and delightful treat that can be made quickly at home using basic pantry staples. They offer a rich chocolate flavor complemented by a sweet glaze, making them a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups All-purpose flour
1/2 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Cocoa powder
1 tbsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup Milk
2 tbsp Melted butter
1 unit Large egg
1.5 cups Powdered sugar
3 tbsp Milk
1/2 tsp Vanilla
23 cups Vegetable or Canola oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare your frying station by heating the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt
  3. In a separate small bowl, combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined
  5. Use a small cookie scoop or two spoons to drop rounded tablespoons of dough into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot
  6. Fry the dough for about 2 to 3 minutes, turning occasionally until puffed and cooked through
  7. Remove the donut holes with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels
  8. While they cool, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create the glaze
  9. Dip each donut hole into the glaze and set them on a wire rack to allow excess glaze to drip off

Notes

For added flavor, consider using high-quality cocoa powder.

To store leftovers, keep them in an airtight container for up to two days, or freeze for up to a month.
